So, for now, in place of some kind of pithy, funny and 'window-into-my-mind' post, I would like to promote a Site and Facebook page; which I have been reading and enjoying very much, over the last few weeks.
Sustainable Man, started by Chris and Steve Agnos, is a site that both entertains and campaigns - a good and balanced combination, for getting the message across.
Some of the content is hard-hitting and doesn't pull any punches. But that's what's needed, I think, as things become more urgent and desperate. And as its done in a warm, humorous way, it makes the message more powerful and accessible.
If you visit the site, you'll find a Blog, Videos and the cartoon series "The Adventures Of The Guy Who Just Started Paying Attention". Here is an extract from their "What is Sustainability?" Page, that should give you an idea of what its all about:
"What an overused word, huh? It seems “sustainable” has become the new buzz word, hijacked by numerous groups that have confused and distorted its true meaning. Hijacked by corporations that define sustainability as “using fewer resources” rather than the actual term “resource efficiency”, economists that speak of “sustainable growth”, an obvious oxymoron, and by Wall street where the word is actually applied to stock market rallies, as if it were possible to have a stock market that never went down."
So, if its something that you are interested in - and we ALL should be, if we are honest - go and check it out, get some interesting insights, "Like" it and get the T-Shirt!
Meanwhile, I'll be cleaning up my new Scythe and looking for a nice (but very cheap) little 4x4, with a review of each and pictures, to follow soon...
